Planting Design and Installation

£70 per hour

Thoughtful plant selection and installation to create a cohesive, thriving landscape.

When your garden needs a revamp but not a total redesign, consider a planting design. Plants breathe life and soul into a garden and tell the story of the space, not to mention they provide the food and habitat for your resident wildlife.

We operate under the mantra of ‘right plant, right place’ and as plant obsessives, we know which plants will thrive in your soil type, aspect, and our local West of Scotland climate. We will work with you to understand your needs and style, then design a planting plan to your specifications. We take care to prioritise natives, edibles and pollinator-friendly plants to support the ecosystem of your garden.

The planting design process is phased and collaborative.

Consultation: We take the time to get to know you, your lifestyle, your needs and goals through a complimentary 45 minute consultation.

Site Analysis: A site visit, evaluating existing features, soil conditions, drainage patterns, sunlight exposure, and views.

Proposal of plant selection: We will send you a broad plant selection, detailed with photos, common names and latin names. These are selected according to your preferred style, colour palette and personal preferences ie highly scented. They are also attuned to your garden’s growing conditions, ie soil type, sunlight, exposure and will provide year-round interest.

Adjustments to plant selection: You can then make any changes you would like to the plant selection.

Optional Maintenance document: The final plant selection can be accompanied by a document detailing the maintenance recommended for each plant.

Planting design: Once the plant selection is agreed, we will put together a to-scale planting design which plots each plant in the space, and details the quantities needed.

Implementation of Design: We order and deliver all plants from our specialist nurseries. By working directly with nurseries and growers, we can supply excellent quality plants at an economical rate. We usually undertake the setting out of plants ourselves in order to facilitate the best possible positioning and establishment of each plant.

Garden Consultation

£150 for 1.5 hours

If you are feeling a bit stuck but you don’t want to commit to a full planting design, consider a garden consultation. The sessions are designed as a starting point for people who want to work on the garden themselves or get some ideas before engaging with landscapers to do the work. If, after the consultation, you decide a full design is required, the cost of the initial consultation will be taken off the overall design fee.

How it works:

When you book your consultation, I’ll send you a short questionnaire to complete and ask you to send through photos so we can maximise the time spent together.

We will then meet at your garden, and discuss the issues and questions you have. For instance, I can suggest suitable plant choices, advise on garden lay-out, explain how to do certain tasks such as pruning, planting, improving a lawn etc and/or offer practical advice on how to achieve the things you have in mind such as ways to encourage more wildlife into the garden, creating more shade without obscuring a view or attractive screening ideas for privacy. I can answer any questions you have and talk through ideas you might already have about how to achieve what you want in your garden.

After the consultation, you will receive a summary report detailing what we went over. I will also share images of key trees and plants to suit your soil / the aspect of your garden.

Wildflower Meadows

Naturalistic meadow installations that support pollinators and seasonal beauty.

We are big advocates of wildflower meadows. They provide much needed support for our pollinators while looking beautiful too. With years of experience in creating and maintaining meadows, we can create one bespoke for you. We work with local organisations to ensure the plants are helpful to our resident pollinators. This local-centric approach ensures long-term success.

Biodiversity Installations

Habitat-focused planting to support wildlife and ecological balance.

Our gardens are crucial for wildlife. Even in the smallest gardens, we can all do our part to create better habitats as well as encourage nature in our neighbourhoods.

As towns and cities grow and developments take over empty spaces that were home to nature, our gardens have become important for a wide range of species. Our gardens combine to form a national network of nature reserves, playing a key role in supporting wildlife. Make your garden a refuge with a:

  • Wildflower meadow
  • Nesting box
  • Dead hedge
  • Bug hotel
  • Compost system
  • Hedgehog house
  • Pond
  • Rain water collection system

Window Boxes, Pots, and Containers
